Photo: Educational Toilet Paper

Because Japan is an exporting country that is heavily reliant on its overseas business, much emphasis is put on learning English. New methods of acquiring the 'world language' are always welcome. This picture shows some English-studying toilet paper that is designed to make full use of the special conditions of concentration that exist in the toilet cubicle.

The package says "Tanoshi Eigo" (Fun English) and "Let's study English," while the sheets seem to be covered in English words and their Japanese equivalents. This product may also represent the peculiar love-hate relationship that Japanese people have with the English language, which is both a means of social advancement and infinite stress; but, then, so is their own language.
